In November, 2011, the Sunnyside community approved an $88 million dollar bond. These bond funds were designated by the vote for: $32 million in facilities renovation, $10 million in athletics upgrades, $27 million to sustain technology initiatives, $6 million for new buses, and $1 million for security upgrades.

The Library Renovations fell under 2 of these areas: Facilities Renovation and Technology Initiatives.
Our Library Executive Team and Director of IT determined that each site in the first phase of renovation would receive $250,000 to use for construction, furniture and technology. 3 sites were chosen: both high schools and the K-6 technology academy. These were chosen as the pilot sites based on need and visibility. The remaining 17 schools will be modeled after these, with approximately 4 upgrades occurring per year.
